Privacy Policy for Device Info
Privacy Policy for Device Info
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how the Android application Device Info (the "App") handles information. The App is a read-only diagnostic utility that displays technical information about the device it is installed on — such as CPU, GPU, memory, storage, display, camera, battery, sensors, operating system build, and network connection details.
By installing and using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please uninstall the App.
2. Information the App Does Not Collect
The App does not collect, request, or process any of the following:
- Personal identifiers such as your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
- Account credentials, contacts, calendar entries, call logs, or SMS messages
- Photos, videos, audio recordings, documents, or any files stored on your device
- Advertising identifiers (Google Advertising ID), Android ID, IMEI, serial numbers, or other persistent device identifiers
- GPS coordinates, geographic position, or location history
- App usage analytics, crash telemetry, behavioral data, or diagnostics reports
- Payment or financial information
The App creates no user account, has no login, no in-app purchases, and no advertising.
3. Information Read and Displayed on Your Device
To perform its function, the App reads technical information from the Android operating system and displays it on screen. This information is held in memory only for as long as the corresponding screen is open. It is never uploaded, stored in a file or database, backed up by the App, or shared with anyone.
| Category | Examples of information read |
|---|---|
| Processor & GPU | CPU model, architecture and supported ABIs, core count, per-core clock frequencies, CPU load, governor, GPU vendor and renderer |
| Memory & storage | Total/available RAM, swap usage, total and free internal storage capacity |
| Display | Resolution, density, refresh rate, HDR capabilities, screen size |
| Camera | Camera hardware characteristics reported by the system (lens facing, resolution, focal lengths, supported features). The App does not request camera permission and never opens the camera, captures images, or records video. |
| Battery & power | Charge level, health, temperature, voltage, current, charging state and power source, battery technology and capacity |
| Operating system & build | Android version and API level, security patch level, kernel and Java VM version, device model, manufacturer, brand, board, hardware and build identifiers, bootloader and radio version, SELinux mode, Widevine DRM security level and version, installed Google Play services version |
| Sensors | List of sensors present on the device with their vendor, range, resolution and power ratings, plus live readings shown only while a sensor card is expanded on screen |
| Network status | Connection type (Wi-Fi, mobile, Ethernet, VPN, etc.), connected/metered state, mobile network operator name, Wi-Fi signal strength, link speed, frequency and Wi-Fi standard, gateway and DNS server addresses, local IP addresses of active network interfaces, and the connected Wi-Fi network name (SSID) |
Live values (CPU load, battery status, network status, sensor readings) are sampled periodically while the relevant screen is visible and are kept only in volatile memory to draw the on-screen charts. Nothing is written to persistent storage.
4. Permissions and Why They Are Used
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
INTERNET |
Required by the Android system API used to enumerate the device's network interfaces so that local IP addresses (IPv4 / IPv6) can be shown on the Network screen. The App has no server or backend, makes no outgoing network requests, and never uploads or transmits any data. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
To read the current connection type and whether the connection is metered, and to display gateway, DNS and IP address information on the Network screen. This permission does not allow the App to access the internet. |
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE |
To display Wi-Fi signal strength, link speed, frequency band and Wi-Fi standard. |
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATIONACCESS_FINE_LOCATION |
Used solely to display the name (SSID) of the Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to. Since Android 8.0, the operating system requires a location permission before an app may read the connected Wi-Fi SSID. The App does not use location services, does not read GPS or network-derived coordinates, does not collect location in the background, and does not store or transmit any location or Wi-Fi data. The permission is requested only when you tap the button on the Network screen, and the App works normally without it — only the Wi-Fi network name will be hidden. |
Although the App declares the INTERNET permission, it is used exclusively to read the
device's own local network interface addresses, which Android only permits with this permission.
The App contains no networking code that connects to any remote server and sends no data off the
device.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
The App shares no data with third parties. It integrates no third-party advertising networks, analytics providers, crash reporting services, attribution SDKs, or social network SDKs. The App uses only Google's AndroidX / Jetpack Compose user-interface libraries, which are bundled into the App and do not transmit data.
6. Data Retention and Storage
Because no data is collected, there is nothing to retain. The App does not maintain a database, preference file, log file, or cache of the information it displays. All values exist only in device memory while the App is running and are released when the App is closed by you or by the operating system.
7. Data Security
Device information never leaves your device, so there is no transmission to secure and no server-side storage that could be breached. The App runs inside the standard Android application sandbox and reads only information that the operating system makes available to it.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). As the App collects no data at all, no personal information of children is gathered, used, or disclosed.
9. Your Rights
Privacy regulations such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grant rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data held about you. Because the App collects and holds no personal data, there is no data for us to access, correct, delete, export, or sell. Uninstalling the App removes it and any memory it used entirely from your device. We do not sell or share personal information under any definition used by these laws.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This policy may be updated if the App's functionality changes. Any revised version will be published at this address with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will additionally be noted in the App's release notes on Google Play. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
